Dear Santa:
It has been a while since we last spoke. Our brief encounter at the bakery and mall was probably not as memorable for you as it was for me. Thank you for taking the time to say hello to my family and me. The kids think your red suit is stellar and wonder where you store it in the summer.
Not much has changed since last year. The kids, husband and I are all doing well. From your last visit, you saw that we have a nice roof over our heads and plenty to eat. The family photo near the tree reflects the adults' waist lines. How were the cookies? Did your reindeer like the carrots? The kids thought you should share the cookies with Mrs. Claus.

Were your ears burning a few weeks back? At church the religion director asked the congregation if our image of you and God are similar. Think older man, rounded face, beard and generous with gifts. Interesting thought, huh? Never compared the two of you before but it does have some merit. My hope is if you are the same person, please keep the biblical flooding at bay. We have had enough water in this region to last a lifetime.
The kids mailed their letters last week. If you did not receive them, here is a quick recap. Amazing Ann wants clothes for her Barbies. Wild Regan wrote about accessories for her doll, Sally Monster. Revin Roger dictated the desire for anything involving wheels. My husband Bryan wanted a Craftsman grinder.
My requested items cannot be made at your toyshop, but you have some influence. Several weeks ago, I went to visit a neighbor's child at Lurie Children's Memorial Hospital. When the doctors came into the room, I went for a walk around the ward. The scene inside the rooms would bring any human to tears. This year, can you work your magic to send home the children at the hospital? Granted, this is a massive undertaking, but the impact would be huge. Parents would spend Christmas morning with their children. The nursing staff and doctors would spend the holiday with their families.
If your Christmas magic cannot bring home all the children, how about focusing on just one? Baby C needs to be home with his twin sister. Baby C and his twin are only a few weeks old and being in a hospital is no place for a family to bond. This would be a wonderful gift for everyone.
I will not see you on your next visit to Crazyville. Leave a note to say hello. Also, please tell the reindeer not to mess with the antenna on the roof. We finally have a perfect picture and do not want it messed up.
Kindest Regards,
Sharon, The Mayor
