At Home Vortex - The Spin Cycle

This week's writing prompt from the blogging mavens at Spin Cycle asked for my definition of vortex. In Crazyville the dreaded Polar Vortex visited twice this month. The weather phenomenon resulted in six days of no school. Four days were called due to extreme cold and two days from a broken sprinkler at the school. Needless to say the Polar Vortex added to the craziness.

The month of January has been the "at home vortex." The never ending cycle of everyone inside the house.  I could have complain about the walls closing in and kids not in school. Instead we made the most out of this unique situation. We played countless games of Candyland and Princess Cupcakes. The marathon game sessions showed the unique personalities of my children. Amazing Ann demonstrated her cunning strategizing skills while Revin Roger's hand sent many game pieces flying. Wild Regan's temper flared when someone "accidentally" tipped the board game right before a huge move. Opps....

The kids learned some old school favorites like
                building forts from blankets.

                          Revin Roger's latest Lego village.

I tried to sew pajama bottoms that reach my ankles.

                            Something is wrong. What???

Yep, the crotch portion is a bit low.  You have to laugh.  I did.

Second attempt seemed to work better.

Today after lunch I started up the car and moved the long forgotten vehicle outside.  The kids and I bundled up for a competitive game of kickball inside an empty garage.  After we were all worn out and sweaty the kids marched to the tub. Ah, another way to kill a hour.

Wait.... The school just called.  Classes are back in session tomorrow.  I knew this time would end, eventually.

Are you stuck at home? What are you doing to stay busy?
