Vacation - Not A Mom For Five Days
Back in March when hubby was trekking through the farm fields in Europe, Janette S called and asked if I wanted a vacation. The resounding answer was yes and not
just because hubby was out of town. Five days in a warm environment where my
name in only Sharon was too good to pass up. Plus, any activity
with Janette equals fun.
On April 27th we left Chicago's O'Hare Airport on Spirit Airlines - not my favorite carrier but the price was right. If you have never flown this airline be prepared to pay extra: to check a bag, pick your seat, check in at the airport and a drink on the plane. After we landed the flight crew shared a funny joke but the real riddle was how much did it cost? Five dollars or ten? On a positive note, the long flight did give three hours of uninterrupted time to read.
After we landed in Vegas, we hot footed it our hotel. Literally, the town was a warm sunny 80 degrees with pure sunshine. We dug out our long forgotten sunglasses to soak up extra vitamin D. We were so enamored by the weather, we did not realize the car's air conditioning was not functioning.
Right before we checked into the hotel, we saw an In-N-Out Burger stand. Janette had never experienced one of their world famous burgers, so we stopped for lunch. In short, she turned into a fan of In-N-Out burgers.
The next morning gambling was not on the agenda, it was time to drive to Zion National Park in Utah.
We hiked Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. The views and sounds were breath taking.
Take a few moments to enjoy sixteen seconds from Zion National Park. The video had sounds from a babbling river with a bird serenading visitors.
Tuesday afternoon we drove to St. George to check into a spa. For two days we enjoyed morning hikes, exercise classes, relaxing in a hammock, a cooking class and gourmet food. The last day my tired winter laden skin was buffed with a honey apricot scrub. Afterwards, I soaked up the views from Snow Canon State Park in a lounge chair sipping one of my favorite teas.
Then it was back to Vegas to fly home.
This video had a few landscape shots from Zion National Park and Snow Canon State Park.
What are your vacation plans this summer?
