Forget-Me-Not

I worked over 12 years in the corporate world. Some of the companies were absolutely amazing and others, well, nothing needs to be said. The one constant element was the camradery between work colleagues. We worked long hours, late nights and weekends just to finish up a project. Add small offices, air travel and the never ending conference calls made colleagues learn each other's lives quickly. We knew their spouses' quirks, worry over children test scores, latest hobbies and neighborhood feats. Few subjects were off the table except the usual suspects of world politics and religion. Office politics were fair game.

Sadly, when I said goodbye to a constant paycheck I also left behind the daily interaction with work colleagues. Over the years, I kept in touch with some while others life got in the way. A few years back, I did call a former colleague and after a few moments he asked if I wanted to come back to work full-time. He thought the call was to rebuild my professional network, not learn about his life.

I could easily send a few Facebook requests.  That would build my "network" but that was not the goal. I really do miss hearing about their lives. Did Jignesh ever get that promotion or how did the second adaption turn out for Dave and his wife?  Guess I will never know..... then I could spy via Facebook based on their privacy settings.

Is there someone you would like to reconnect with or have recently? Let the gang at the Spin Cycle hear all about it.

Sharon, The Mayor.
