Preparation - Writing Prompt This Week
All week I have prepared for Saturday's Arlington Heights 5K Santa Run. The treadmill and I have been battling it out to see who will last the longest. Granted the machine works off electricity and I burn cookies but it is a fair fight. The treadmill is a decade old and I am well, let us not dwell on details of age. In the end if the treadmill looks like it will win, I will schedule some downtown for maintenance. It is getting old........
The treadmill and I raced on hill work, interval training and just plan speed. I found a great treadmill interval training schedule on the #RockMyRun blog. Between racing the machine, Wendy William's Hot Topics and fast music, the training has been going well.
Saturday is approaching and I have been feverishly studying the weather. One forecaster called for rain, another snow and still another a sunny day. In the end only Tom Skilling's forecast will do. His latest forecast called for sun, low 40s and slight wind. Hmm, hope he is right.
The running gear is all set. I have figured out my clothes, purchased a new warm hat and double checked my shoes for excessive wear. Each race participant is given a five piece santa suit. Stay tuned for the fashionable photo session.
Race day opens with two eggs, salsa and a small coffee. Then I am off.
What are you preparing for this week? Tell the Spin Cycle all about it.

Sharon, The Mayor.
