Birthdays
This week's Spin Cycle was on birthdays. How do you celebrate the day you entered the world?
For most kids they loved the idea of one day dedicated to them. On their special day they are showered with attention, cake and gifts. Plus, who can beat the sugar rush after everyone sung to you? Let's not talk about the spit spray after the song has ended. EWWW
In Crazyville everyone got a homemade cake because it tasted better and my middle child could safely eat the frosting. No comments on the decorating job. One day I will take a decorating class until then the kids are content to have an edible cake.
Unless you turn the big 40. Then the bakery helped out.
As a Chicago Bears fan it was hard to purchase this cake and not drop it. I did get some nasty comments in the bakery parking lot. Hmm... wonder why the left overs never made it into the house that night?????
As I got older the day was more about fun because I forgot the number and embraced old age.
Every year my favorite way to celebrate is a dinner out that I did not cook/burn. Plus, being out in public refrained my family from singing the most obnoxious version of Happy Birthday. Amazing how strangers contained the wild beasts who inhabit Crazyville.
In the end we all need to embrace our birthday. Just celebrate the anniversary of turning 29, again.
